This was an unusual one – At this data centre, 40 SCU’s were needed to provide the cooling capacity. Due to special constraints in the construction phase, these were double stacked with 20 units on top of 20 units. Ductwork had been installed to vent these units which we renewed in the earlier case study. To eliminate Anti-Recirculation, we installed 20 new chimneys and designed a bespoke steel support system using the existing building structure. As a result of this £600,000 works package, the FM team advise that the energy consumption has dropped by a staggering 40% and they are no longer having difficulty keeping these data suites within their design specification for temperature and humidity.
